Helene, five hard falls and broken bones (4 lumbar vertebrae, one femur, and 4 ribs), I'm finally able to walk after two years. I walk a lot like a duck for now, but that will improve over time. At 73, I no longer bounce when I hit the ground.

I didn't have a lot of decent knives (the good ones were all Spyderco, and I'm a hardcore fan) before the disaster but I treasured them, but with the move back and forth between temporary housing after Helene dropped a huge red oak on our house I've lost track of my knives as well as my good sharpener. Be that what it may, I'm battered but OK and I'll find my knives eventually unless someone from the several "pack and move" companies purloined them. IMnsHO, anyone who'd steal someone's Spyderco would drown a bag of kittens, but there we are.

I still have a "Crucarta" in my right pocket, so I'm fine until I wear the edge down on opening boxes. So many boxes. There's a Para 3 in S90V in them somewhere, although I loathe the bright turquoise scales on it; still a big fan of that steel.

Anyway, I'm still kicking, just not as high and sorry I've been gone so long. I really enjoy this forum and like the people here.

Welcome back and congratulations on being upright and looking at the green side. it's easy to see what got you through, those upbeat and positive vibes. :)

Great read. Somehow it felt like an entire adventure novel in a few brief paragraphs.

I can relate on the broken back and ribs. Nothing is worse than broken ribs in my book.

Terrible that your blades may be gone. Not knowing would be challenging. Worst case, you get to start with a clean slate and build the stash how you want it. Prices are down and selection is up on the secondary.

Welcome back! Keep us posted on your Spydercos, if they were absconded, I have something I would send your way to get the pile started again ☺️ if you like hot sauce, I got that covered as well 😉 I still think someone as storied as yourself should start a thread chronicling your adventures.
