I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still alive and kicking. After being out of the loop for several months things are getting back on track.

My air hammer is back up and running. I wired the grinders last weekend too...hopefully I'll be able to do some work this weekend.

Minimizing the shop has been a challenge. I know most makers would shank someone for a 1,200' shop, but after having a shop more than twice that size downsizing has proven to be rough.

I have a couple orders I need to finish then onto Fisk Show knives.

For the first Fisk Show piece I'm first building a massive damascus d-guard. The second piece will be a sub-hilt. I'm pushing myself for these pieces. Also, I will be video taping the process...should be fun.

Even better, after filing suit against the manufacturer of my CNC mill (the mill completely broke down after a few months use and the company refused to honor their warranty) I've settled the case and at least got my money back.

Lawsuit? Sheesh..........typical lawyer. A REAL knifemaker would have just gone over there and whooped up on them with a cross peen hammer. How massive is this D guard going to be? You regular knives are huge to begin with. Is this thing going to look like a plow blade with a d-guard and sharpened clip?:D Oh, and I would be one of those who would shank you for that 1200 sq ft shop. That is about 2 1/2 times the size of mine. Were you building a homebuilt aircraft in the back of the old one?!?!?!?!

The Fisk show pieces sound great - like Keith said, I hope we see some pics.

Hey Matt,
Glad to hear you got your dough back for the mill.
Like the rest of the guys, looking forward to seeing pics of the knives,
esp. the damascus d-guard.

Delighted to hear that all is going well old chap! We all look forward to the next great Roberts Bowie:)

Best wishes for the new shop and I am glad that you got the case settled....
All the best Matt....

Glad to hear things are getting fit back into place Matt! :)

See what you get for adding CNC??? :p JK ;)

I'm excited to see those pieces (and the video) for the FISK show!

Thanks guys!

Joe, I wasn't building airliners, however having the space was a real luxury. I had individual "stations" set up (even a block of grinders). The best part was I could clean around everything; nothing was pressed against a wall. My current space is more than sufficient, I just miss being able to run laps indoors :). What's worse, I only have three grinders and two disks set up...:D

I have the design for the d-guard finished. It's big, but not quite plow size ;).

Nick, I'm looking for a nice used Haas. I'd like to buy a new one, but at $35,000 it's too expensive. Honestly, I would have been better off shelling out $35k than messing around with the first mill...in fact I wish I would have just bit the bullet.

Will look forward to seeing your Fisk Show knives.
Like to head up the road to see your new shop sometime.
My daughter's in school there in town.

Good for you in making the manufacturer realize they need to stand behind what they sell.

Kevin, the next time you're in B'Burg I expect you to call me. We'll at least go to Five Guys. You also need to stop in the law shop so we can finish the C3...call me when you get a chance.
