I'm still slightly bothered that I have grown fond of traditional folders

Sometimes I find myself just fondling this mini trapper for no apparent reason which is something that I've normally never done. There are parts of the knife that feel cold and tactile unlike some of my knives clad in G10.

And then there is this dang snappy noise that the blades make. I have no idea why but I just like the snappy sounds of opening and closing the blades. It's strangely satisfying. Is this a common thing, to like the snap of the blade open and close?

And then just like thinking I would never like a traditional folder. I said the same thing about the stupid pen blade. And now I'm craving a traditional with a wharnie blade on it and a little pen on the other side of it. I don't even know what that model is called but I know that I want one. I feel better having said this now. :D

I find as I grow older, the traditionals look better to me, I am planning on getting a few Stockmans in the near future.

I guess I can sort of relate in that I am a little bothered that I have become a fan of a certain line of modern folders put out by Spyderco. I have always been a traditional pocket knife guy and still am. Very much so. They work well for me, I am comfortable using them and I am just drawn to the looks and old timey feel.
The modern folders that I have come to enjoy also work well for me and they do have a real world application that I can not deny. I have two front pockets so I often just carry one of each. Overkill on most days but I like them both and they make me happy and I'm not hurting anybody.
If I were forced to choose only one I would stick with my traditional pocket knives but I am fortunate in that I don't have to choose. So I enjoy what is in my mind the very best of both worlds. Your mileage may vary.

Maybe a Sway Back Jack? If so: get one! They're fantastic.

Well said that man.

Be it jigged bone, stag, or wood, there is something wonderful about the combination of natural materials and good solid bolsters that make them such good worry stones.

And indeed the great eastern cutlery half congress is superb. Fausto speaks truth.

Hi Jim! Hope you are well. I hope you are referring to that endura?

That ukpk that you sent me messed up my world. Turns out that I don't need to edc a one hand opening locking folder after all!

***Jim innocently sent me a spyderco slip joint in trade for an endura which brought me to asking why I need a one handed folder to edc in the first place. Turned out that i dont need a one handed opening fomder.

In return I innocently gave Jim about two weeks of grief when I mailed him the endura via usps priority and it went missing taking a trip around the eastern half of the u.s. before finally getting to him. Lol.

There's a lot to be said for having an arachnid in one front pocket and a houndstooth in the other. No need to limit oneself to one type or the other. It's all good.

Be veeeery careful here. When you start figuring out what you don't really need, it can be life changing!:D

I am well and yes I am referring to the Endura. It's kind of a modern 110 type folder to me. No grief really, more of a growth opportunity. Slip-joints are great so if one is serving your needs I think that is great. Lots and lots of nice patterns to choose from..

I'm almost certain I need a small sebenza too in time. For now when I'm at home, I have not touched my Spydercos and other like knives opting for an Opinel #9 and this slipjoint which have been very useful in their thin bladed-ness! Someone also made a connection between the Navara, Buck and Spyderco not too long ago on the board!

I understand where you're coming from old word craftsmanship I just really interesting. whether it be true vintage or not. Thow some interesting scales in the mix, and they're perfect for random admiration.

I grew up with traditional folders, 10 or 15 years ago i stupidly gave most of them away as I got into more modern designs
Now I. Am slowly rebuilding my traditional collection
All my knives are users and I have no safe queens so I do rotate my edc's
I also have a couple of friction folders on order, that should be fun
