i can't find it,....

why isn't there a buck 110 or 112 with screwed construction instead of pins? no demand? changes the design too much and no one wants? thanks for any insight.

buck did the 186 titanium in the last 80's and some knives makers like jag custom sell some customs version of the 110 and maybe 112 with screwed construction built with nice material like copper, titanium, brass, carbon .....

Main problem is anyone could take the knife apart, but not everyone could put it back together,Buck spent a lot of time re assembling knives sent back to them and decided to pass on the take down model.

Buck even sent the tool with each knife and they still couldn't do it. Still, I'd like to see them construct some along the lines of your suggestion. DM

Makes sense. I was thinking more of just keeping the pivot tight when it loosens up like it does with the pin...but i can tighten the pin...just takes longer than a torq twist. I didnt consider folks taking it apart just to take it apart or to super clean it etc. Thanks fellas...appreciate the info.

I don't think the past history of people disassembling 110 is the issue. That was then and this is now and now, the market is full of screwed together knives so buyers have more experience and even Buck has several screwed together folders like the Vantage and Spitfire/Slimline.

I would buy at least a couple of 110s with screwed together construction. That would be pretty neat. It's definitely one of my favorite designs.

of course i'd want it screwed but with brass or nickel bolsters modified to allow flush screws and still wood scales...basically a classic look with modern construction, but i'll put it on the wishlist.:)

If the 110 were a tad slimmer and had screwed together construction they would sell a million of them. They made a Ti model similar to the 110 called the 186 or 560, but it was an odd looking varmint. I never could cotton to the finger grooves. I like the 110 handle because it allows me to move my large hand around to where it is comfortable.

Agreed on all points!!

Perhaps there's a metallurgical issue with stainless or other fasteners not being forgiving enough for use with brass. Maybe they expand and contract at different rates? Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing a brass framed folder screwed together on a production model.

I think production wise they could save a lot of time screwing things together, but the cost of fasteners far exceeds the cost of 1/8" brass rod.

I'm not for or against screws, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Mt_Pokt of course. not saying do away with original by any means, just screws for an option..

still own my few 110's and 112 old school with pins, love them, but wouldnt mind an option......
