I'm surprised there aren't any Mountain Mandu threads...

The Mountain Mandu is a real winner of a design. I was able to score one (thanks Eric!) and I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk of the rounded plunge line like the old school Steel Heart 1s.

 The SR-77, sabre grind, rounded plunge, thick stock, super great handle and no choil without the awkward look of the ASHBM are all positives.

:thumbdn: The big negative is the limited release. Hopefully it sees a wide release for those who missed out.

Kinda surprised we never heard of it at all before now? What gives?

btw, what is it?

Very sexy design. Hopefully it gets production status.

I think it needs a 11inch version.

The only info we can get about this knife comes from re-sellers. There has been no official word on this knife. Would like to know more......

It's a 'dealer release' knife, they posted their threads on exchange...

It was available at Knob Creek; but, yeah, a couple of people snatched them all & marked up the price for the Exchange. Not really any different than what happens with the Ganzaaaas, from what I've seen. Some regular people that actually want the knives score; but a high percentage get put up for sale as soon as they're received.

Mountainmandu vs Ratmandu

(sorry about the shadows on that one; but you can see the thickness)

I did some basic testing with mine and put up a short, honest, review of its performance on the SR forum.

Love the design, love the feel of the handle, but mine needs a little work before it will perform as it could/should and ill be sending it off for a regrind soon.

As I understood it, it is supposed to go into production. FWIW, Beef called it a "master chopper" during our conversation at the creek.

Put mine to good use today, worked awesome. Chopped as well if not better then my old CGFBM, split wood (kindling) great too. Get one ASAP.

Handle to blade transition looks similar to what I came up with a couple of years ago !

This knife is literally the only thing that is giving my holy grail knife (CGFBM) a run for my attention's money. I Hope hope hope they make a production out of it!

I hope they will make them, I also really like the 7 inch version (proto)
I 'm looking for a S7 tool steel knife for quite some time and about a year on survive knives to release one of their SK-line.

I don't have a need for a 10" knife but this one makes me want one badly :D
