I've been around for more than a year now and have had a lot of great experiences here on the forums. I really appreciate all the help that makers have given me and the good comradery and friendship that many people have extended to me.

Something that concerns me though, is the large number of people who still haven't paid membership dues to 1SKS. A large and busy website like this takes an enormous amount of work and quite a bit of money to run. Each and every one of us should tip our hats to Spark for the great job he does and provide the rather small and reasonable dues that he has asked for as a membership fee. I doubt he's making a lot of money off of this site so those who feel like someone is trying to take advantage of them should take a reality check and ante up.

Show your support and appreciation for this fine site. If you have a limited income or extenuating circumstances you are forgiven, but hey, we're only talking about $20 here. Perhaps those who are truly in need or without could receive some sponsorship from others who are more well off. I personally would be willing to pay such a sponsorship to 1 or 2 people as a way of saying thanks this holiday season if they would email me. No questions asked.

lagarto, you are indeed a man of honor! If you look at the top of this page at the links displayed there you will see the bottom one is for Premium, Gold, Dealer and Knifemaker Subscription. It's as easy as clicking on it and using your credit card. There is a varying rate according to what you want to be able to do and all is very fair. Let's all set a good example for others to follow!:)
 
Peter, it's been great having you with us. I also hope everyone that feels that this is an important place for knife lovers is supporting or is planning on supporting Bladeforums.

I like the input that all have to offer and do not feel that you have to be a paying member to be a tremendous asset to this forum. Basic members add as much to this forum as do the ones that have gone for the higher memberships.

The reason that I went gold is that I felt that the price was small for everything that I have gotten from Bladeforums that I couldn't even consider not showing my support in a financial way. Just for the friendships I have made here it has been worth it, let alone everything else that I have gotten out of being a member here. I felt that it was my way of showing my appreciation to Spark for him continuing to keep Bladeforums going.

To all the members out there I say, I wouldn't want to lose any of you. I don't care what level of membership you have, you are a member of the Bladeforums family and a compadre.
 
It has been a wonderful 10 months since I first started to visit, and a GREAT seven Months since I began to post. I always looked at membership as something to do if you wanted to sell. I NEVER gave much thought to Spark, and the enormous cost he bears to allow me to have such a super Library of knowledge, opinion, warmth, compassion, great knives for sale/trade and the opportunity to "take the gloves off" once and awhile and GET DOWN.......You have made an absolute valid point, for which I stand Guilty. My Check to Spark is going to be in the mail;) ;) ;) ;) wolf

PS: L6, I owe ya ten bucks for the raffle. I am sorry. That too will be on the way:o :o :o ;)

I LOVE this price, and I wish to be a part for a long time to come. I must help......:D
