I was at a birthday party at my friends house and we were in the kitchen. I see a nice lookin kitchen knife on the counter and I pick it up and just to give a quick look. Then my buddy sees me and laughs and says "Only you would pick up a kitchen knife in somebody elses house just to see what kind of knife it is." I thought was funny when he mentioned that. Anyone else have similar stories?

Anyone else have similar stories?

Almost a weekly or more occurance for me.
i.e. While driving I am always looking at my surroundings and I spot trees or stumps , posts , poles , wood piles etc , I am always wondering what kind of wood it is and if it would look nice as a knife handle.
My brother told me he scored an Oak TV cabinet that my cousin built in his shop , my first thought was if the wood would make nice scales.
I find myself glancing at peoples pockets in grocery lines to see if I can spy a knife clip , I now proclaim a kitchen knife junk based on who and where it was made , friends kitchens , family members kitchens lol....
Freaky !:D

Last Christmas one of my daughters asked if I had a knife so she could open a present. The other daughter looked at her in amazement and said "Duh, do you know who you are talking to".

Went to a retirement party at a well known restraunt here and I see a clip on the bartenders pocket.I asked " 'scuse me ,is that a Spyderco in your pocket?".Yes it was and from that time on my co-worker brings it up again and again.Gotta love these guys.tom.

--At a job in the past, there were a number of people who knew I carried and liked knives. One day, a new guy was trying to get into some package when he asked the room, 'Does anyone have a knife?' All the regulars, without a word, just turned and looked at me.

--I've examined kitchen knives at friends' houses. They don't even ask why anymore.

I am in and out of commercal kitchens quite often. I always check what the chefs are using for knives.
