I'm thinking of adding a fixed-blade to my collection: Any suggestions?

I only have folders. I like the smaller version of the Ka Bar U.S.M.C. knife. Is anyone familiar with this knife.

Any other recommedations?

Are you looking for a tactical knife? If not you should take a look a the Camillus Talon. It is a great small knife.

The Cold Steel SRK is a pretty good, stout fixed-blade knife.
It is made out of Carbon V Steel, has a "black" blade that is 6 inches long, and has a Kraton (rubber) handle.

The Camillus Talon is an awesome little knife. I also would ecommend the Camillus CQB-1 and CQB-2.

The Cold Steel SRK or the Becker Campanion would clearly be my choice. Better steels and stout blades, accompanied by weather resistant finishes, ergonomic and easy to care for handles, and awesome kydex sheaths to top off the package.

You can't go wrong with the KaBar IMO.

Chris Reeve's "One Pieces" are great knives also.Click here to see them

If money is not a problem, Randall makes a hell of a knife. Good Luck!

I always love to see a fellow Kaintuckian on the forums!!!!!

Like it has been asked so many times.... Whats yer budget???? That is really the determining factor here....

If you just want to spend $35 then I would suggest something along the lines of a Buck Vanguard.... If the price doesn't matter, then I would have to say something along the lines of a David Broadwell Sub-Hilt Fighter....

Either way, it's nice to have you here!!!

I have the larger version of the Kabar which is basically the same thing and can say that for the price, it is a great knife. I have put it through some heavy use and it held up very well although it isn't a very good chopper in my opinion.

AC_23,

This is what I had to say about the SRK.

Hope it helps you decide.

I've got the larger, black, F/U Ka-Bar. It's done everything I've asked of it, and done it well. For the $, I think you'd have a hard time beating it. IMO.

Sometimes I get the idea that everything is ulterior ...

I have had a SRK for 10-12 years and really beat the hell out-of-it and I still use the same one. of course I have other cold steel knives now. but the srk is my favorite.
