I must admit that I too am tired of the black knife, but come on! I want a knife that performs and is not going to fall apart at the first sign of use..just so happens that alot of those knife are "tactical". I am not going to buy an Opinel(SP?) cause it cuts like a razor if I can buy an AFCK in M2 that cut great and just happens to be tactical.

I am not sure why I started this topic, maybe 'cause I'm bored and STILL at work. Anyway, I am as tired of black knives as the next guy, but I am glad that there are great knives out there that perform above par...even if they are "tactical".

Jared - leaving for home now.

Broken promises don't upset me. I just think, why did they believe me?

I hope that after I die, people will say of me: "That guy sure owed me a lot of money."

Well Flesh, down around in your neck of the woods rides a fella named SammyB that will tell you that a William Henry Spearpoint is not quite tactical but has the custom quality and feel a lot of people like, like me I guess! Below is my Rainbow Spearpoint with Sterling Silver filigree bolsters and Ivory micarta scales, fit and finish is near perfect. Check them out if you are really tired of the Tactical scene.....

Anyway I agree on some of those statements, but I have always loved and probally always will love tactical folders.......

Those are really cool. But why can't we get a CUDA or AFCK with Coco Bola, Quince, or maybe Sanbar Stag, with Brass or Nickel Silver trim by the manufacturer? No, it wouldn't hold up in the jungle as well. But then, most of us probably haven't seen a real jungle for quite some time. I've not heard any complaints that William Henrys, etc. don't hold up. And the black stuff would still be there for those that really need it. I can see where a traditional syle "tactical" knife could be a good thing. Well maybe not good for my bank account.

Gordon, I never really did get all caught up in the "tactical knife" crap. A weapon is only as good as it's user. Like the debate on which martial art is best. It only depends on the person, not the art. As far as I'm concerned, any object can be a "tactical weapon" A pen or ruler can be just as deadly as a knife if used right. Plus tactical knives just aren't practical.
Chances are so called "tactical knives" will get you in trouble with the law. Come on, how often has anyone in these forums use a "tactical knife" in a self-defense situation? Probably none. But I may be wrong. Oh and Columbo, what's up with the quadruple posts?!?!?! Lay off the pipe man!

I got tired of Basic Black pretty quick. Luckily there are a lot of choices for a quality knife that have a lot more to offer in the looks category. WH's are great for that, another alternative is take your favorite productuion knife and have it Customized just the way you want it, new scales, fancy filework, whatever rings your bell. I can suggest Frank Recupero, http://members.xoom.com/ats34/
or another one of our own, Jake Evans, tell them Phil sent ya.
