I got my Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto today. Big, beastly knife, and my first fixed blade that cost more than 30 bucks. I just finished sharpening it, and was ready to put it away, so... I tried to close it like a framelock. Moved the thumb onto the tang and placed my index finger on the spine. The whole motion. I even paused for a instant and looked before instantly feeling like an idiot.

So that's my story about how dumb I am.

I've heard that the detent on those is too weak...it really needs a good wrist flip to get the blade out fast.

I can't admit to ever doing that before :) however if I've been carrying a certain lock type for awhile (say liner lock) and switch it up (say axis lock) I'll find myself going to push the liner over on my knife, or vice versa. Kinda like looking for something when it's in your pocket or worse yet your hand? :D

Impressive. I'm very used to modern folders myself. I do have a small dedicated fixed blade made by haze (a knife maker here) that I carry most days in my back pocket. It's a stout knife that cuts pretty well with its full convex grind. Larger fixed blades don't get much use (blades over 4,5") unless I am doing yard work or hiking. It is fun though to go into the back yard and chop some 2x4s with a Busse or a BRKT Bravo 1 once in a while, or carve something with a smaller fixed blade.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that feels like an idiot at times. Thanks for sharing. Being a lefty and having a few left handed knives, then showing someone how to close a frame lock right handed by pushing on the non lock side does make one feel like an idiot, what was worse, is that the person was a low budget knife owner and I was showing him how to operate a quality knife that is mine. Geeez

A Warcraft Tanto would make one heck of a beastly folder!
