This forum is AMAZING! Where else can someone go to get totally confused? After doing some investigating on here, I'm looking to get a fixed blade to take hunting in the back country. I've been looking at the Bark River "Fox River", the Fallkniven F1 and the Fehrman "Peace Maker".

I'd like the blade to be a Drop Point design, approx. 4" length but durable for gutting and skinning big game.

What are your thoughts on these three?

I have the BRKT Fox River - it's a great knife, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Personally, I like their Canadian special even better!

I don't have either of the other two, but have heard good things about them. Personally, my next choice would be the Falkniven.

I have the fallkniven, I think its a fawless knife, thats got my vote. But if your really torn, do what i do BUY THEM BOTH!!!!!!!!lol good luck

Those are all great choices. Therefore, I can't help you. You win no matter which way you go.

All are good

But here is my choice, love the convex grind on the F1

I've owned an F1 and several Bark River knives (although not a Fox River) and I highly recommend either. Both the F1 and the Bark Rivers are convexed which is a very durable edge and it's easy to maintain. The F1 is stainless and the Fox River is A2 tool steel which will rust without a little maintenance, if that's an issue for you. I've never owned a Fehrman but I've good things about them as well. Whichever you choose, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Have a Fox River and love it. Carried it for years now. But i see you are in Oregon, so maybe the F1 with VG10 would be a no maintenance option in your case.

Thanks for all the opinions so far. I'm not opposed to the steels that require some preventative maintenance. Just trying to make a decision on a solid knife with the specs I'd like.

Keep em coming guys!

The Fallkniven F1 is a fantastic hunting knife! And a fantastic knife in general....

But buy them both, just to be sure you get what you want! :)

Stay sharp,

I have the Fallkniven and Fehrman, and would go with the Fehrman. They are all good choices, but the Fehrman's ergonomics are the best, and the edge holding is better also. It's hard to beat CPM 3V, it's a great steel!

Have the Fallkniven F1 and have no problem giving it a high recommendation.

No experience with the others, but as stated I'm sure they are excellent as well.
