For around $60 or less with assisted opening and a decent steel.

Is the CRKT M16 assisted opening? It appears to have a push nub similar to the speedsafe nub on Kershaw assisted models.

Nope not assisted opening, it works on loading the pressure from your finger and flicking it open. I hope that explained it correctly.

Alright, i narrowed it down to 8 knives. Pick which one you would buy and say why.

- Kershaw mini Cyclone (assisted) Sandvik 13c26 steel / $50.

- Kershaw Junkyard Dog II (assisted) Sandvik 13c26 steel / $50.

- Kershaw Blur (assisted) ? steel / $60.

- Kershaw Needs Work (assisted) Sandvik 13c26 steel / $30.

- CRKT Lightfoot M1 (assisted?) AUS 8 steel / $45.

- CRKT Edgie Self Sharp (non assisted but self sharpening) 420J2 steel / $20.

- CRKT Kommer Full Throttle (assisted) AUS 8 steel / $50.

- CRKT Koji Hara Ichi (assisted) 420J2 steel / $40.

I would get the Kershaw Mini Cyclone. I have it in ZDP-189 & Titanium.I know you are not getting it in ZDP_189 & titanium. But, I like the shape of the knife, I love how mine feels in my hand. I just love the knife. And Kershaw makes GREAT knives. You really can not go wrong with an Kershaw that you choose.

Yeah, the reason i listed so many Kershaw models is because i recently bought a plain edge Leek and LOVE IT. The speedsafe assist is awesome and the build quality vs. price is unbelievably high.

I'm looking for something just as sleek as the Leek (jeez), but bigger, as i have big hands and my only qualm with the Leek is that it's a little awkward due to it's size.

Hrm.

It looks like the mini-cyclone's handle is only .25 inches bigger than the Leek handle. That won't feel much larger.

It is too bad that you can't spring for the titanium handled, and ZDP bladed Mini Cyclone. This knife is infreakingcredible!!

Lucien,
What do you plan to use the knife for?

EDC.

Cutting easy things like paper/plastic/packing strips/action figure packages for my son.

Nothing crazy or hard use. I just like having a good selection of good knives to cycle through day to day, depending on my mood.

FYI, the Junkyard Dog II is not assisted. It is a flipper...but a really nice flipper.

Eric

Ah, damn. I was hoping it was assisted.

I will say that nub is damn near the finest opening thing there is. Once you have your hand trained it's like butter. I dont' care for CRKT's steel at all, but the funtion of that finger nub is great.

Lucien,
For your use, I think the Kershaw Needs Work would be great. It is assisted, takes a great edge, the straight edge (Wharnfliff) is easy to sharpen, easy to follow a straight edge with , carve, etc. Very inexpensive for what you get (ie: good value).
Some people like the aesthetics, others don't.
A Kershaw Leek is also nice, but for what you describe, I thing you couldn't go wrong with the Needs Work.
Just my $0.02

A Kershaw Blur SG2. It is real nice and also assisted or a Kershaw Lahar that has a flipper but non assisted. GOOD LUCK! Kevin:thumbup:
