I'm trying to decide between these choices.

Spyderco Endura/Delica w Wave or Benchmade Griptillian or Hideaway Utility Knife or is there a better choice around that price range? Thanks.

I would go more for the spydies or the BM.
Again, hard choice. They all are good at a really decent price.
I would choose the grip only because I think it looks better.

The Hideaway knife is much different that the folders that you mentioned; apple to oranges. I think Hideaway knives are great little FB's, who's main purpose is self defense. The other knives are more utilitarian tools. I am a Spyderco fan, so I would vote for either the Endura or Delica. The Endura has a blade length of 3 3/4 and the Delica has a blade length of 2 7/8. Which blade length would you prefer. I personally would choose the Delica, but that is me.

I've only ever used the Grip, but which to choose would be up to your intended uses. For self defense, HAK. For utility, Spyderco or BM. And between Spyderco and BM, it would depend on what you want out of the knife. I would go for the Grip because I don't enjoy using back locks. But just because the lock is the most important distinction between the two for me doesn't mean that it's most important for you.

id go with any of the spyders or BM. My two fav production companies--cant go wrong with either (although i do favor BM a little more=P)

it really does depend on your intended use. The HAK is a great little fixed blade, but somewhat specialized. It can be a handy utility knife for small tasks, and at the same time, available for covert self-defense. In neither role is it a primary blade, but more of a backup.

The Endura or Delica Waves are distinctively self-defense knives. Not only are they fast openers, the spearpoint blade shape is better oriented for thrusting than the other knives you listed.

If you're a beginner to this mid-level of knives, I would actually recommend the Griptilian. I never had a lot of Benchmades; I'm a big fan of Spydercos. But the Grip is a lot of fun. The axis lock is strong, reliable, and slick. Pull back on the axis bar, flick your wrist, and the blade will snap open or closed. The Griptilian comes with any one of several decent steels, and you can get one with different blade shapes, or even a mini-Griptilian.

One advantage of the Spydies (and the HAK) is their minimal size. The handles are very flat. The Grip is fat in comparison -- but that makes it a good shape to 'grip' and especially so for extended heavy cutting.

Hold off on the HAK for now. Toss a coin on which of the others you get. :D

You really can't go wrong with the Spydies or BM grip, all very good quality and similar price range. You should try to find these in a store so you can hold them and get a feel of the knives and decide which you like.

Might I also suggest a mini Grip rather than the full size, more comfortable for an EDC.

Damn, I'm having a hard time deciding. Maybe that's part of the fun of knives. Why don't I just buy them all. We only gotta' eat sometimes, right? Thanks for the replies.

Not trying to be vague but for a new knife user choosing between 3 very distinct but excellent options (since you mentioned price, we won't tackle that anymore) -

1. What's your intended use?
2. Have you actually held them?
3. (Corollary to no. 2) How does each one fit into your lifestyle/mode of carry/comfort and use level?

I suggest you take these into consideration. Have fun choosing!

Mainly utility. Something maybe I can bring with me everyday and to work. I haven't held any of them. I'm also just interested in buying knives.

tough choice. both have super strong locks, come in different colors, have good steel, and are available plain edge or serrated.

i prefer the endura over the grip. feels better in my hands and i love the wave.

I've never tried one of the HAK's myself, but I do own a few Sypdies, and a few Benchmades.

I'd suggest get them all. Other than that, I'd suggest getting the Grip first, maybe in the "mini" configuration if this will be for EDC. The Benchmade Axis lock is one of the best inventions, ever. It provides smooth opening, smooth closing and once you get used to the "Axis flick" the knife will seem to open and close as an extension of your hand.

If you go with the Grip, you also have the choice of steels: 154 CM, D2 (exclusively thru Cabela's), or S30V (exclusively thru Aeromedix).
