So as i posted in my knife gifting thread the other day I ordered 4 small vantage selects to gift thus holiday, and I must admit one was for me :D ! Anyway they arrived today and I really wasn't sure what to expect for $17 , and was a bit worried they might seem cheap never had handling the vantage series before. I have to give a huge thumbs up to Buck on this one, these knives are little tanks !! All 4 came with perfectly centered blades and outstanding fit and finish and rock solid lock up !!! IMO this is the best value out there on the market today !!! I can't think of another knife made in the USA for this price , built this good ! This thing blows the skyline and tenacious out of the water big time(for the cost) and is on par with the delica and mini grip but at a fraction if the cost , not to mention the thicker blade stock than both making it a really tough little folder !!! I now feel obligated to get every model of the vantage !!!!

You won't be disappointed with the rest of the vantage line either. I have all 3, and they are all great! Thanks for the pics and writeup!! Enjoy it!

My guess ( and that's all it is) is that Buck found some of the folks they left behind in California tough to replace . I have found Idaho knives a bit spotty in fit in the past. I've got three of the Vantage series - purchased from a knife show , and two different sporting goods stores. I realize this is not a big sample - but all three to my old hands and eyes are (well) perfect in terms of fit, finish and function. In the end it all comes down to the folks who put 'em together and it looks like the skills on the line in Idaho have gotten pretty impressive in the last year or two ?
These are really impressive knives for the bucks ( or dollars).

I really didn't expect these to be such sturdy knives I figured I'd get something similar to the build of the kershaw skyline (which i also love) !!! I really think these will be a hit under the tree :) I'm
Thinking blue paperstone for the next one !!!

Thank you. We are glad you all have had a good experience with our product.

SRR,

Great picture of a terrific knife.

You might also enjoy the Bucklite product line, also bargain-priced, since you already appreciate the Vantage group.

Pictured is the full-sized 486, orange, with back-lock. I carry this knife everyday, use it regularly and value it greatly.

soft rock, that knife looks pretty substantial even from the photo. All your adjectives, don't forget to add Buck's customer service, probably one of the best in this business. Good shots & thanks for letting us know.
Be safe.
p.s.: Give Sam Adam's "Winter Lager" a try, only can get it this time of year . . . :)

Been eyeballing these as well as the paperstone 112's all look like great blades!!!

I just ordered the smaller Vantage Pro from the Buck site using the 40% off. I should see it right around the first of the year. I can't wait to get it, especially after all the great feedback I've been seeing and hearing about it..

I also order 2 yesterday, the Pro small, 342 $45 and the Pro Avid 345 $36 from the Buck Web specials.
I saw the Advantage small select for $17 but didn't want to comprise even though comments said they were great. Glad to here it worked out for you.

Let me tell you the Buck shipping department is cutting a rug. I ordered a whole Boy Scout troop orange 425s on Sunday and they were here today.....Am numbering them with dremel so there are not internal altercations......300Bucks
