I am really wanting to buy a AK bowie pretty badly. I just bought a BAS and it is sweet. However I need to know a few things. How long is the blade? Im guessing from the decription that the blade is about 8 to 9 inches long. But Id like to know roughly the leangth, and width. If I don't find a used one on the exchange I will order one from Mrs. Martino when she gets back from Nepal. What a nice lady by the way. She was so nice to me on the phone when I ordered my BAS. I want a user however, and for my day to day, this would make a great EDC for work. My BAS lives on my pack, having replaced the CS Khukri (no comparison..HI wins), but when Im teaching wilderness survival to my military school cadets I want a stout bowie, as I show them alot of diffrent knives, and how they are used and explain the history behind the knives, and I do not have a good bowie. The BAS is already a huge hit, and the kids love the history behind it as a military arm. I have showed them the website and they cannot believe that the Kami's are able to do such incredible work with basic tools. I tell them that it is a testament to the Kami's spirits and work ethics..... They got a kick out of my using it as a draw knife at our last camp....They are already pouring over the HI website... Thanks for any help you can give me in making this decision as I live on a cops medical pension, and my pay at the Military school isnt much so I wanna make shure this would be everything I think it will be before I spend the cash......

Badasp, the AK bowie is one of my hands down favorite HI knives. Everything about them, to me, is perfect. They offer plenty of chop, plenty of belly, a useful point, and they generally are little less alien in western hands than a khukuri (we are all well aware of the khuk's steep and merciless learning curve  )

I actually don't own one anymore simply because I gave mine to my dad. It lives in his RV and has gotten him out of a pinch a time or two. I would love to snag another one with a wooden grip but I haven't come across one when I had the funds:D

I adore all of the HI's bowie knives. The Chit, the Tirtha, the Cherokee Rose, etc. The AK Bowie will always have a very special place in my heart though:) Great nuke-proof knives.

Woo Hoo nabbed one off of the exchange. Got it for 73.00 shipped. What a bargin......
