FWIW, I have a couple of Tramontina machetes with molded handles. Although the edges of the tangs do not show, they appear to be full tangs, each with four pins, including one in the tail, which would suggest that the tanf follows the shape of the handle out to the end.
I have one Imacasa machete, a 16” bolo, with a wood handle. The tang is a full tang that follows the shape of the handle, but is recessed, about 1/8 to 3/16” on the spine, and almost a quarter inch on th other side. My first instinct would be to sand the handle flush with the spine, but I really like the way it feels as is.
Neither of these is directly relevant to your question. I only mention them for whatever insight they may offer.
