Just ran across this site today and was curious if anyone ever tried one of these knives? Are they just a gimmicky knife or are they worthwhile? I tried a 'search' but came up blank. A 3" blade of high carbon C70 Sheffield steel. What is this steel comparable to?

Thank you, Walking Man... I'll have to check it out. Also heard that CRKT has a similar version.

Sorry I don't have more information.
Maybe the knifemakers forum can help you ID the steel.

Interesting design, can't say that it gets me all that excited to go out and buy one though.

IIRC 70 carbon is just a plain carbon steel with 0.70%carbon in it. I think it falls just short of the O1 carbon steel but should behave in the same way. Bit less brittle but a bit less hard wearing. Good choice for the design of knife IMO. I don't think it should be used as a pry bar though.

for me to pick one up "just to try out". If they were $20 maybe but for $100 I could get a proven design from a company that has a forum here (Buck, Camillus, HI, Spyderco, SOG, Swamp Rat) and is known for great customer service. Neat idea though.

Thanks again for the info... you guys are a great source of knowledge! I think you're right, SilverFoxKnows. I've got quite a few Bucks & if that 'spare' $100 materializes, I may just get one of these 'oddball' designed knives to try... it'll never replace a Buck but might be fun checking it out. :D
