If...just if...a Becker folding knife existed, what would you imagine it would look like? Lockback or slipjoint? Just for fun, let's let our minds wander...

I imagine:

Becker/Victorinox hybrid
Becker Trapper
Lockback GEC 72 type pattern

I think slipjoint but that may be because I think it would make more sense with the BK62 coming out soon. More blades in a little package. I love a trapper or moose/muskrat pattern.

Too many nice folders already available. They'd be crazy to jump into a flooded market. Buck 110 is about the perfect knife for my needs.

You want to beat on it like a Becker can to be? Backlock it. Backlock it with a 0.125" minimum blade thickness, D2 min. steel, stainless liners with G-10 or wood scales. Freakin beefy & one of only a few folders the manufactures are ok with batoning. That would be a BK folder to me. I'd pay up to $150-$200 for it.

  • Skeletonized liners? Why? I love heft.
  • M390 steel? Can I sharpen this blade on a rock? No? Why bother?
  • Can't baton it? Seriously? Pfffffsssttt.
  • Scales? What are those? Does it have a handle? Good!
  • "I can't open it with one hand?" You've got two? What's the problem?
  • I want a BK10 that fits in mah pocket!
P.S. Flooded market? What, my money ain't good enough! Bring it on!
BM came close. Adamas is a good close BK in mah pocket.

i just got an "EnZo Birk 75 Curly Birch 4 1/8" closed 2 7/8" New D2 tool steel blade New Knife" and it's pretty sweet, and thick, but thin, and solid, if you know what i mean. that would be hard to beat.

that said, Hogue is/was already in the loop for a folder. if the requirements would be: made in america, not taiwan, made of good materials, and so on... well, it would probably be too expensive. so, likely not happening last i was told. course, i'm told nothing. so.

KaBar has a value line of folders, with a lot of names on them, they're good tools, esp the ones with steel liners (like the zombie series), however, not in line with Becker values i'd think?

in this decade, some of the things we'd like from Becker would be $100+ $150+ $200+ and people are still thinking $75 is a lot for a big knife. when that fixes itself, maybe we'll have product.

D2 doesn't sharpen well on a rock.
Good ol' 1095CV or AEB-L. Frickin' tough material.
This is a long-running collective fantasy, but the expected retail price pushes it out of the usual Becker market segment.

Yes to heft. Yes to 3.5-4" Yes to G10 or similar.
Backlock is smart for pure brawn.

I have a few folders I like (my wife got me an awesome BM mini-Grip), but, I like fixed better than folders. I have the Hogue Ritter MK1-G2 coming. If they were to make a piece with Mr. Becker’s good name on it, I would support it in a heartbeat.
