The latest article for the Fiddleback website is one of a series of articles that have been inspired by the surrealism of some of the images within the landscape of our new Twilight Zone-esque environments, and on why we should continue to support our local small businesses and entrepreneurs even if it does mean going a little out of our way and making a few sacrifices to do so.

I think the impact on small businesses is going to be intense despite govt stimulus efforts. While I think knifemakers will suffer, restaurants will be the hardest hit I think.

I agree. The profit margins for most mom and pop restaurants really aren't all that high because they don't have buying power corporate eateries do. From the number of times I see the Dominoes' cars on the road I'm assuming corporate pizza places are doing well.

That sucks, and I can't make myself "like" the post. But I agree. I've seen some of that here too. I hope this ends well.

There is a lot of money manipulation at our expense under the guise of being helpful going on write now.

Local sub sandwich shop has closed their doors permanently after 20+ years in business. Our coffee shop is doing OK with pick-up orders thankfully. We just had a small craft beer bar open up & then have to shut their doors a month later, I'm hoping they survive.

Wife & I always try and use local small business over big box stores. A Moonshine distillery near work has been doing well, thanks in part to making hand sanitizer for the local medical offices & an aggressive online media campaign. Creativity & online media use goes a long way.

Yeah, some of the small stores are being killed off. Meanwhile corporations like Target are raising prices and taking our money, but disallowing the use of fitting rooms, and disallowing returns for weeks and/or months...the date keeps changing, whilst doing major remodels. So it's really not hard to imagine how they are helping subsidizing their remodels while also ensuring there isn't a run on returning Chinese made merchandise by people who are fed up with Chinese manipulations.
