I am continuing my "get to know you " stage of this fantastic knife, it hasn't left my pocket for about a week and I don't think it will for awhile.

One of the things I noticed was what appears to be a serial number on the tang of the blade -

I assume that the 23 is the year of manufacture, and the three digit number is the number made during that calendar year (in my case the 263 knife made in 2023)? If I am correct - and it seems rather obvious that this is the case - is that for ALL iMamba's made; i.e. plain, and inlays? Or are each variety numbered individually per what they are?

It is a really cool detail/nuance that I found and wanted some clarification on.

Thanks!

You’re assumptions are correct. The Bernards put the year first and the number your knife is of that year.

Every year, the serial number (not including year) resets to 001.

IIRC all the iMamba’s are grouped into the same serial sequence. There are not separate sequences for each model, ie. plain and inlayed.

Hope that helps!

It does and seems like an obvious detail. I wonder if the serial number includes all variations of the iMamba - that is what my larger question was.

I am just a bit curious as to how many are out there circulating in the wild.

You’re asking if the serial number indicates how many imamba’s have been made since the original release?

So you have 23-263.

So it is the 263rd iMamba (all variations included) that has been made in the year 2023. The next iMamba made after yours will have the serial number 23-264.
When January 1, 2024 comes around, the iMamba’s serial numbers will start at 24-001.

There is no way to tell from the serial number the total amount of iMambas that have been made since the original build. :)

Sorry no, what I am asking is in my case the serial number is 23-263. My personal knife is a plain no inlay; so does the "263" only reflect that of the total number of plain jane's made - do the inlaid models get their own sequencing; or is it reflective of the total number made irrespective of inlay or not.

My bad if the question wasn't framed properly.

I did answer that in my original post. ;)

Hi, we appreciate your support. The numbers work like Sharp & Fiery explained from knife #1 doesn't matter if it is plain or inlay. That is the number we produced so far for the year and next number will not matter of the inlay. We keep track of every knife, and it gives them more authenticity. So, it is reflective of the total number made irrespective of inlay or not.
