Spark replied to a support query in this regard by saying,

"Attachments have been disabled from the IMG tags IIRC. Attachments can be linked to for viewing, but will not display within threads."

He must be running into bandwidth problems
& decided to restrict automatic image display of attachments.
That'l reduce bandwidth,
but it'l be hard to follow a lot of the image intensive threads.

Sadness.
