Found this advertised for sale on another site. IMHO, no Khukuri, but like the handle.

Over-all length- 18"
Blade length- 12"
Steel thickness- 1/4"

I like it!

I love Mineral Mountain-- Ted Frizzell makes knives that could probably chop through a tank. However, the MMHW khukuri is probably my least favorite of his designs. I'll stick with the bowies.

I love Mineral Mountain...

Some of the stuff looks pretty nice, but...

It looks like it all has deep, hollow grinds:(

I don't think that's what I want on a thick knife like this, unless I was only going to use it to cut thin stuff like linoleum. Just my $0.02.

Other than that, many look like good workers.

I would love to test my Chiruwa against that - put tip of blade on block of wood and but on block of wood and SMACK. Vice versa too !!

Not an HI

:grumpy:

firkin-- the pics don't really do the Mineral Mountain knives justice. I've not seen a MMHW khukuri in person, but I have a White River bowie, and the grind is not as deep as it looks in the pics. If I am not mistaken, Ted uses a 10" wheel to grind the blades, so the hollow grind is actually pretty shallow. I've had no durability problems with mine, and no binding problems either, except when cutting cardboard, and a big 18" bowie isn't really my first choice for slicing up carboard boxes. As far as khukuris go, though, I don't think there is anything out there that compares to HI, or for that matter, anything that even comes close to comparing to HI. They really are world-class knives.

Anybody else reminded of a line from 'Crocodile Dundee'..?

"That's not a knife... THIS is a knife..."

Sir, You read my mind. I thought the same thing when I first saw that picture.:)

Tom, how about "That ain't no khuk. This is a khuk".

That ain't a knife - This 25" AK Chiruwa is !!

That would scare some people more than the dundee thing - I think !
