IMO, Rem Action Cleaner is an excellent blade cleaner. Removes tape residue 100%

Tape residue on my blade is a huge pet peeve of mine. It's a royal PIA to remove.

My EDC gets covered with tape residue from cutting the packing tape on boxes for work. Using soap, water, and a sponge either had me slicing the sponge to shreds or scratching the finish on my blade. I got Rem Action Cleaner in a package deal with my Rem Oil, so I gave it a shot to clean the blade. The Rem Action Cleaner dissolves away the tape residue. I just attach the straw and lightly put a few drops, enough to cover the blade in a light film, let it sit for a few seconds, and wipe it down.

Rem Action cleaner, from my experience, is not G10 safe. It caused discoloration on the G10 scale but so far polymer safe. Just avoid spraying on the handles. Focus on the metals only.

A safer alternative (for the G10) that might work just as well (or even better) would be just regular old lighter fluid. Apply a liberal amount, wait a few minutes and with some elbow grease you can easily remove almost all adhesive residues.

The two most effective things I've tried for tape residue removal are orange cleaner (like Goo Gone) and isopropyl alcohol. Goo Gone is cheap-ish. Like $1 for 4 oz. Isoprop is extremely cheap at about $1 for 16 oz. Just make sure to get the 90% stuff and NOT 70%. The 70% is not effective for this task.

Gun oil of various types seems to work fine also. Hell even mineral oil.

Plain old ordinary rubbing alcohol works perfectly fine. If you're ever without it, another option is nose or ear grease. Yep. Disgusting. But it works too.
