hey I am looking to get a new knife amd I was considering getting the Ka-bar
D2 impact combat. Has anybody had any experience with this knife? Any help would be greatly apreciated, thanks,

TBG.....

for the price, i feel that a benchmade nimravus or camillus CQB would be a better choice.

the BM Nimravius and the CQB are exellent knives I agree but I was looking for something 6 in. or more.

here are the things I am looking for. Sorry I did not do this earlier, I was in a hurry. A heavy use knife 6 in.or more. I know the limitations of D2 but I like it because of it's excellent edge holding abilities
I would preferably like to keep the cost below $100. I am not looking for a chopper and I prefer synthetic handles. (micarta, g-10) I have already narrowed my choice down to this knife and would like to know what you all think about it. If you want to recommend another knife that is find to. Also does anybody like the sheath? Thanks,

TBG.......

Just got a Ranger RD6, great carbon blade with an excellent heat treat and good looking. Very reminiscent of the Busses. Something to think about. Justin also make 7 and 9" versions.

Although I don't have a ranger yet, they have a lot of fans here.

I don't know if a Becker BK7 or BK9 would be a good choice too. I like the feel of the Becker, but it is heavy. Have not had the chance to actually see
a Ranger in person. Have been looking for Rangers on eBay but no luck so far.

thanks for the sugestions, I am starting to seriusly consider the ranger rd series. Does any one know if brigade quartermasters sells them? I live pretty close to the store and I am planning to go there soon. I also considered the becker series but I don't really like the handle. I prefer micarta or g-10. Does anybody know where I can find a pic of the rd series sheaths? They are not on the ranger knives website. thanx,

TBG.....

I don't have a pic, but the sheath that came with my RD9 is great. Heavy duty canvas/cordura, with a kydex insert. Eyelets and straps on the back give it infinite attachment options to a pack or whatever. Also has a pouch on the front which is big enough for a folder, sharpener or my Inova T1 flashlight.

The BQ catalog has a number of Ranger knives. I don't know if the store has other models as well. With Justin himself in Iraq, everybody's stock has gone down.

I have the 1095 spearpoint impact. It's my daily beater at home and so far so good. It's solid, nothing fancy. Later on I'd probably get the D2 version as well (just because it's D2 ;-)

Benchmade Nimravus uses 154CM stainless steel. and I think you have to pay more to get that one.
