G'day fellas. How are we all? I was just wondering if anyone had used their SOG fixed blade ( with pommel capable of "field hammering" so to speak ) for a field hammer and if so, has anyone experimented with how much impact the pommels in question can handle ( no pun intended! ), either before they break, bend and / or deform? I know of a guy down here that used a Government model to knock a nail into a telegraph / power pole and had no problems, but I am still curious. :)

Howdy C-J-G, I happen to of hammered with my Government and Desert dagger. Mostly wood and plastic tent pegs, but have done a few metal pegs and a few nails. The Pommel has some dings in it from harder steel which is only a cosmetic problem. Hasn't affected it's performance. It's not as good as a hammer, but it sure does a goof job for a knife. I have no worries about it. :)

G'day wildmanh, thanks for the reply. That is the impression I got from a guy out here aswell. He knocked a few nails into a telegraph pole with no problems, I was mainly thinking of any cases where anybody had gone
"above and beyond the call of duty" with there SOG's. I have always been a "right tool for the job" person, so would never use a knife that way but it is always nice to know the limitations of what you work with are.

Thanks again for the reply.
