Since the demise of Schrade/Imperial....

Imperial Boy Scout - anyone know.... Just for curiosity, does anyone know the history of this particular line or anything specific about this knife.

While cleaning out an old toolbox, I found an Imperial Boy Scout 4 blade pocket knife. If it was mine it must be at least 42+ years old. Not in horrible shape, blades are carbon and have tarnished some but action and handle are in good shape. Only markings on the knife are on the blade - Imperial with a number.

Thanks

I do not know a whole lot about the camp utility knives, but I do know that while some were produced for the Boy Scouts Of America, far more were made for the general public. Several companies made them, some a part of Schrade, and some not. Not all had shields with pattern names, and those names changed with the years. Ulster, Imperial, Schrade Walden, Colonial, and Camillus are a few manufacturers that come to mind. With a few modifications, it became the standard pocket knife for the U.S. Military for years. Blades have varied over the years, but if I remember right, the spear point blade, bottle opener slotted screwdriver combo, can opener, and awl blades were most common. Most, but not all included a bail, or "lanyard ring" on one of the bolsters. It was the original "swiss army knife", and few kids that I knew were without one at least sometime during their early outdoor adventures.

There are some posts and pictures here somewhere of them. Be patient and maybe we will see some new ones, or be directed by link to the ones I remember!

I am not sure what you want to know. The most common of these ( if memory serves was a 1096?? ) They made several patterns it is a bit difficult with out any description of the knife size, handles, unusual blade configuration, something a bit more than just an old boy scout knife. A picture would really help. Whatever version it is they are, of all boy scout knives the most common. They are mostly the same as the Kamp King or basic utility knife that imperial made. Usually a molded shell handle. In mint condition ( like new ) they are worth 10 to 20 dollars ( if they are old). made in several versions in the 50tys through the plant closing in providence and then made in Ireland. That is about it unless you need something specific. Sorry I hope this helps a little. LT

I like the scout pattern, and have a some examples in my collection. Mostly cheaper brands (that's all I can afford :D )

But I've been wanting to show this off, so here you go folks...
