Imperial Fishing Knife

I heard a saying once about a painter not having his house painted nice and that a landscaper never having his yard cut. Well I make knives now and then and didn't have any knives that I had made for cleaning fish. I also don't have one for skinning a deer anymore.:o I went fishing yesterday with my wife and kids and I grabbed an Imperial fishing knife and quicky touched it up on my paper wheels. This knife isn't really that popular but it gutted and scaled about 15 of these mangrove snappers very well. I have had two of these knives for a while now and this is the first time to really put them to work. Nice little knives to say the least.

Nice action photo of it. A late Uncle of mine who was a big fisherman had one that similar to yours in his tackle box. He used it regularly even though he had supposedly better fillet knives we gave him as gifts. No one ever found it when he passed away. But all the Rapala knives were there.

Very nice, I have one like that, too, but it has yellow handles on it. It's a made in U.S.A. Imperial, correct? I used to also have a made in Ireland Imperial, too, but gave that to a friend/Forum member.

Very nice, so how did the blade & scaler work out?
 
The blade and scaler worked very well. I especially liked the scaler. It took me a few swipes to get the right angle. Once I found the right way, the scales came off very quick. This knife is going to be in my tackle box from now on.
 
Hey panch0, that knife was the classic fishin knife when I was a kid.:thumbup:

If you had the one with the hook sharpener on the handle though, you were considered to be in high cotton!

I remember there was one like in the tackle box.
 
Mmmmm, snapper! Hope you get to try that knife out on some specks, flounder, black drum and reds as well!
