A couple of years ago I started collection Frontiers and as you can see it has really grown in just a couple of years. I find all on the bay and have found some in good shape but most need a bit of TLC.

I would say that you have a great collection there!!!! There have been several members here collecting the Frontier series.. I wish I could keep my knives as organized. Just search the forum for Frontier .

Have three more in my Imperial Frontier collection. All needed a bit of TLC and rust removal. I do enjoy seeing the final results of my work.

Some nice saves there. Nice collection!

Very nice indeed! Not all of Imperial's knives were dime store merchandise. Many were fine quality knives and usually still at very reasonable prices. The Fazzanos and Mirandos came from a long line of Italian cutlers.

That's a monster collection!
I have a few stashed in the safe but here's a couple from the desk:

a 4512 lockback

and a 4621:

Iexpected to find it had been re-tipped but it hadn't.It still has the factory grind clear to the tip.

Relodr36, Both of those knives are in fine shape. The 4621 (46 series, 2 blade, Powderhorn Stag Delrin) has a full blade and was made in 1976 only. That is one area of my collection that lacks knives, I only have 3 black scales. Always looking but I won't pay crazy prices.

The majority of the Frontier series of Imperial knives were made by Camillus for Imperial. The line was not started as a cheap Imperial but as a premium Imperial. The series was made from 1976 to 1989.

i have one set and two knives that are Imperial. like the look of them.

Wow, that second blade is a monster. I never saw anyone like those two. The sheaths are very interesting. What is the model number stamped on the back side? If it is 4625 they were made from 1979 to 1983. Thank you for the pictures.

yes both are 4625's. both have the rough leather sheaths which are cool. even have all the bling as well.

The Frontiers with out the powder horn on the side were made in Ireland. That is with exception of the wooded scale knives because they had no powder horn. The Ireland models were made after production stopped in the states.

delmas shows two of the frontier special issues, the Crocket and Boone. There is one more, the rarest of the three, the 'mountain man'. Same pattern with the rough leather sheath and similar blade etch. As I collect the largest of traditional folders, although usually much older, I spent a lot of effort gathering up the three of them. As I understand it, Albert Baer stopped production of t he Camillus made Imperial Frontierss, as he felt they were eating into the Uncle Henry and Old Timer brands.

There was/is a Sears version of these All American knives which come up on the bay occasionally. As one of the very few SFO versions of these patterns, it would make a good addition to the collection.
