Hi everyone

I just acquired an Imperial Ireland that I believe is a Tradesman TM5. The blade has some play to it. I understand they had a 10 year warranty. Does any one knows if the warranty is still valid or did it go bye-bye when Taylor Brands LLC took over Imperial Schrade? Does any one has a contact Number?
Thanks
Cecil

I imagine they would probably honor the warranty if you sent it in and they still produce that model, however if it were me, I would rather have the older Imperial, the new Taylor made knives are not even close to being the same quality as the old ones. You could probably fix the blade wobble your self with a few light taps on the pivot from a hammer.

If they make that same model today and if they send you one, it'll be made in China. The Irish Schrade factory closed weeks or months before the Imperial-Schrade Corporation went bankrupt in 2004.

The good news is, the Chinese version probably won't be any lower quality than the Ireland-made version. Those Irish Imperial knives are some of the lowest-quality products I've ever seen with the Schrade name.

According to my records the TM5 is the "dual edge lockback", the fifth knife down in this picture:

Thanks Bob W. You're right, is the 5th one from top. Since I opened the thread, I contacted Taylor Brands LLC in TN and was told that this models are no longer made and warranty does not cover them. I guess I'll keep it in one of my tackle boxes.

Get a Victorinox SAK with the same tools. Better knife, good warranty, will last nearly forever.

Hi Rich

I actually have 30 Victorinox and 31 Wengers. Love them. If you ever need the ph #for either factory, just let me know.

Ok gang, here is another couple of questions for you.
I've come across a Victorinox- Hoffritz knife. It is an older model with solid awl. Looks like a small
(84 mm) Tinker with the semi square slotted Phillips screw driver. It has the toothpick and the tweezers but no key ring.

I've also come across a Wenger knife that looks a lot like a Diplomat. It has large non-locking blade (etched LG ESSENTIAL), scissors, nail file (facing inwards, towards the blade) NO backlayer tolls but here is where it comes complicated. According to SAKWiki.com & Smartknives.com, the diplomat has tweezers. Mine does not. Also it has Eddie Bauer on the scale with the shield. Any ideas if I have an earlier version or a model not sold in US, or a model made exclusively for Eddie Bauer?

Later I will tell you about another one that I just sent to the factory to get new scales. Any Input will be appreciated.

Hello again guys;

Has anybody heard of XXL knives. I just bought 2 Stockman. 1 is a sowbelly. the seem to be pretty decently made. They do have "China" stamped on the tang of the clip blade but that's it. Not even the box (which is white) has a model #.
