Imperial M7S Survival Knife...Ever Heard Of It??

I picked up one of these around 1986 at the BX in England.
The knife looks just like a bayonet (but isn't), has one edge plain and the other is finely serrated from tip to about 2" in and equipped with spines (used for barb wire cutting??). The handle is a composite (maybe early Zytel??). The pommel is shaped as a hammer head. The guard is equipped with a straight screwdriver on one side and a phillips on the other.
The sheath is OD green webbing back with camo pouched front and is metal lined.
It also came with magnesium fire starter and wire saw.

My questions are:
Does any one out there either have, heard of, or have seen one?
If so, is it junk or OK?
What kind of metal is it?

I bought it at the time because:
1.It was knife!!! Duh!!!

2.It was an Imperial. How bad could it be?

I have looked for so long to find out any info. No luck ever.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yup, I remember it. I think I have an article on it in an old magazine, which I can dig up (email me a reminder, and I can scan it)...I think it was 440 type steel, but not too sure.

The M7S had a parkerized carbon steel blade. The Scharade Extreme Survival had a stainless steel (probably 440A) blade.

I bought two myself in 1993 from the BX at MacDill AFB. I used one extensively and put it through quite a bit of abuse. It kept it's edge exceptionally well and since the sawtooth edge wasn't large it did a great job of cutting small limbs, etc. I really liked the sheath because you can really pack a lot of junk in it.
