I just found this at the local hardware store. Does anyone know anything about it? I found imperial schrade was closed.

Any info, thanks!

Moved to Schrade Collectors Forum with link in Traditional. This should get you what you need.

It's one of the last of the Schrades made before closing down in '04. Always look for Ellenville on the packaging if you're not sure. The price is a good one, I've seen them on ebay for twice that. I went around right after Schrade closed down and bought all the Uncle Henrys and Old Timers I could find... most in the same style clam packaging. I think most of the 34OTs went for around $12-14 as they were marked down trying to move them out. I was happy to help them, although sad to see them go. I'm suprised someone else hadn't discovered them where you did before now and cleaned them out.

Thank you for the reply. I love it. It was in an old bin of schrades. There are at least 15 more different types. I have walked past them for YEARS :-).

Anyhow I went to the store. My GF wanted a little knife to whittle with. I picked out this one. The only clam shell packaged one. It had a better finish then the rest too. I touched up the blades on my stone. It took me about a minute per blade to make the already facotry sharp edges hair popping. It a fine little knife imo. The gf is whittling with it now :-)

I guess the blades are carbon steel? Btw, it has a great opening snap to all three blades.

Yep, carbon steel. I've always liked Schrades... well made, easy to sharpen. They're classics in my book. Keep her cleaned and oiled and she'll last a lifetime.

Hard to believe these original Old Timer knives are still showing up in hardware stores. Nice find, congratulations!

If you paid that sticker price, you got a heckuva knife for the money.

Thanks guys! It really was nice to find in the local hardware store. I thought of cleaning them out...but the thought of someone else coming along and having the same surprise is kind of nice too. It has already carved two pieces out of oak. Touched up between carvings and back cleaned and oiled with the other knives. Can't even tell it was used. Nice knife.
