I recently found one of these at a yard sale. I personally only buy tactical knives but I remembered these from when I was a kid. Are these worth anything? Or are they just the tools of the A-hole uncle whose life is to tease his younger relatives?

You can still order them. They only cost around $5. You can sure have fun with them if you find a rookie who knows nothing about them. :D :D Kevin

The new ones are probably made in China; the 'real' Imperial-Schrade Corp went out of business in 2004.

As to value, should be able to find plenty of them on eBay for comparison. I'd expect $5-$10 for a mint condition original.

cool thanks guys, this one is older, Prov. RI made with cracked ice laminate "scales". looks like a promo as it has "Share Corp." screened in the scales. I got $1 into it so I'll probbably hang on to it, see if I can't grow into the role of the A-hole uncle. appreciate the feedback tho!

What is the trick anyway?

You can only open and close it with the tip of the blade pointing to the roof or the floor. Just holding it to the side like a normal knife will not open or close it. I am sure it can be explained better but this is just a quick answer. Kevin :D

You have to hold the knife vertically and "pinch" the blade into the handle to unlock the mechanism.

Yes, I should have explained that too. You have to push the blade towards the backspacer to open and close it. THANKS! Kevin
