Just got back from an auction, and while going through a box I spotted a plastic sheath. After having a look insde it was an imperial usa stainless camp knife set. Knife, spoon, and fork that all fit together. While looking a little closer I noticed that all three pieces have the boyscout symbol on the handle and read "boy scouts of america National council". All three pieces are near mint and unused, but the knife is the only one that has the imperial usa stainless stamp. But all three say stainless usa on the reverse side. Kind of a neat piece I thought and for a dollar plus a bunch of other junk that made the whole auction worth it. Any one know a time line for this or if this was a standard issue for the boyscouts. I also thought the can opener incorperated into the knife was a nice touch. wierd thing is the knife is a butter knife style, No edge - Joel

Wow Joel!.. I have no information on this one but it sure looks like a sweet find to me!

I had a set just like them when I was a scout back in the 60's

I had one too, in the early seventies. It had a brown vinyl sheath with a snap flap. In fact I might still have it around here somewhere, I'll have to do a little digging but it should turn up.

I got mine NIB in the 80s. Yet another piece of my youth that I wish I still had. These were obviously meant to be used, so finding a near mint set is a decent haul. Now if you can find one of the vinyl sheaths that is not ripped I would really be impressed.

eyegor you mean a sheath like this......No rips or tears, none the snap is a little tarnished but that shouldnt be a problem. - Joel

Very Nice, indeed. That example appears quite a bit sturdier than what I remember of mine. Perhaps the quality changed over the years. Again, no idea on years of production or rarity but I suspect you won't find many sets in the condition of yours.

You'd probablly be suprised at how non sturdy this one is. I think I just got lucky and got one that never got used or something cause I think if you opened and closed this about 50 times it would probablly start to tear. Thanks -Joel

Kind of the same material of the baseball mitt Aunt Betty bought at Dollar General.

Using the BSA emblem, it's sometime between 1932 and 1979, based off the lack of "New York City" next to "National Council", and the Imperial stamp puts it post 1950.
