Everyone loves classic American designs and quality, no question there.
Somehow I have ended up with a handful of Made in West Germany chopping things. Eyes are too big for off the shelf handles, some are soft, most are flat-sided, some are pretty crude I like them for some reason or no reason maybe. Germany must have had some extra blue paint and steel at some point...
3.5# double and single bit
2.5# boys axe
2x 1.25 hatchet heads
The FEDSPEC marked hatchets seems to be the nicest of them. That one rides behind the backseat of my truck and been used camping several times. No complaints but I dont know whose Federal Specifications it was built to.
Gave this one to a friend of mine who retired from teaching German after 30yrs. He thought it was neat. Sometimes they clean up ok.
I wonder how many of us have ended up with non-US chopping/cutting things that they have picked up and use simply because they are interesting?
Sleeping with the enemy to gather intelligence is still getting some.
