Import markings?

Over the past year or so I've bought a few Kershaw imports with mixed results. Most have impressed some have disappointed. Recently I received a CRKT Drifter and it has been a pleasant surprise. Overall f&f is very good. My question is about the markings on import knives. All my import Kershaws are marked "China" while the Drifter knife has no markings as to the country of manufacturing. The CRKT box is marked "China" but no markings on the knife itself.
What are the rules about identify country of manufacturing?

I think the labeling on the box is sufficient to be legally compliant. I think the law did say at one point that the product itself had to be labeled, but I wouldn't be surprised of that changed. Some people are under the impression that knives from China are still all garbage, even when companies like Kizer are making knives there. Don't get me wrong, not all Chinese knives are good, like Mtech.

If I am not mistaken, I thought all CRKT models with alphabet soup steel (8Cr and 9Cr) were made in China. I'm pretty positive the Drifter is, and I think the Drifter is even made in the same factory as the Kershaw import models.
