To all Forum Members:

I would like to formally announce the formation of the Emerson Collectors Association. The web site for this organization is located at www.emersoncollectorsassociation.com and the launch date is midnight on Thursday May 30. That’s tonight on Pacific Time.

I would tell you all about the organization in this post but everything is explained pretty well on the website.

I hope you all enjoy this new organization as there are plenty of surprises and things in store for the future.

Thank You,

Ernest R. Emerson

When can we see pictures of the production CQC-8? I guess I am one of the many who have clamoured for a CQC-8, and I can live with payin full retail and spending an extra $100 on Surefire C2 at the same (I need one anyways) -- but I need to get a glimpse of the production knife first.

A couple other questions:

1. Is this a limited production series (x units per year), or a limited edition (x units total)?

2. Blade configurations? Satin/Black-T? Plain/Serrated?

Carlos

I have some pictures from the Blade show, but don't have a way to post them here right now.

Basically, if you know what a CQC8 is, that's what your getting. It's flat out every bit the knife the custom is. The custom has the .062 liners and thick scales, it has the original screw pattern (the Production Eight has a screw pattern like the 2002 and Mini Commanders) and most of the customs are Chisel ground.

The production version is double ground, chisel edge, like a Commander and waveless.

This model is exclusive to Surefire. The will have the exclusive as long as they are offering the combo, basically unlimited. They will be handled through Surefire and their dealer system. The only way the CQC8 is being offered currently is in the combo, through Surefire.

The CQC8 is Black-T with Black G10 scales, plain edged. Cross logoed and cross serialized. I'm told that down the road there will be 50/50 serrated versions and lefty versions made.

The C2 is Black to match, only instead of Black-T or Paint, Surefire is offering these in Black Anodizing. Very sharp look.

Thanks for the full low-down John. I've taken the liberty of posting your pics for you.

Glad to be of help and thank you Sir.

The bottom picture shows the new line up. The "P-Tac" ("Tactical Persian"), CQC8 and the "Kandahar".

Maybe it is an optical illusion, but in that pic it appears that the tac persian blade is just a tad longer than the 8. I know both are listed as 4". If this is indeed the case is the 8 actually a itty bit under 4"? If this is the case that is fine with me. it gives me a little legal breathing room. Anxious to know since I have my CQC-8/C-2 reserved.

Good eye.

The P-Tac is actually 4.1 inches. The largest folder EKI has ever produced. The butt is a little longer as well.

One interesting thing, the curved butt of the P-Tac really makes getting hold of it in your pocket extremely easy. It's probably the best drawing of the non-Waved folders.

The Eight is a full 4 inches.
