Hello all,

I just got this knife and it is the first one I have seen in person. The tip is very overbuilt but I expected this. I need info from owners or people that have actually held the knife. My knife has no tip, the very tip point of the blade is not there. Now I can't tell if it supposed to be this way or not. The way the tip is overbuilt and the way it leads into the point, it looks like it is supposed to be this way, I am just not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't own this knife and have never held one, but I have seen dozens of pictures of it and from what I have seen the Pesh Kabz has a very acute point, almost needle like. What you are describing doesn't sound right to me. Is there any way you can post a picture?

Ok something is wrong here. I just looked at an online pictue and like Keith said there is an acute point...

In fact this is off of the CRKT home site:
Bud Nealy’s first folder is based on an ancient Persian design with
a special blade grind for exceptional tip strength and penetrating power.

Penetrating power implies that there should be a tip... YOu should certainly call up CRKT and get and exchange for another one.

agreed.

here's some pics i found, and it seems theres definitely supposed to be a nice point:

There's just one problem...
CRKT's warranty does Not cover tips, specifficly.
Apparently, that's under any circumstance. Obviously they know it's a shortcoming of their product. My advice would be to try dealing with the vendor, you'll probably get further. Suffice to say, i'm not impressed with how CRKT backs their products. However sometimes a company will bend printed rules on the phone to satisfy a customer...
That remains to be seen, and please let us know how this finally gets resolved.

Whoa... I glaced at your name and thought it was mine, but I didn't remember making this thread. Anyway, sorry to go off topic, but why is the tip built up like that?

As the others said, I think your knife is supposed to have a pointy tip on it.

Simply for strength TMG...

And yeah..., I'm sure they will just replace it.., obviously damaged somehow...good luck... :)

Or perhaps it's due to the fact that they know that the most common damage done to knives is when people try to pry with the tips (especially with an inexpensive knife like a CRKT). Their warranty covers everything else but like most companies, they're trying to limit their responsibility for customer abuse of blades. I've owned close to 10 CRKT knives and never seen problems with the tips on them so I don't think it's fair to say that they have an obvious problem.

I had expected a much sharper tip, but have found the blunted tip to be great for cutting junk I do not want to waste my sharp 'blade' section.
My two look just like the pictures, but I am planning on reprofiling the fat tip to a newly beveled edge.

Mine doesn't have an "acute" point. It's pointy enough for what it was designed for (a weapon). This blade is pretty thick, and I feel is is meant to be stabbed into things, and have the point NOT fail. I handled a real Nealy at a local gunshop (used for $150 if anyone is interested). An Aikuchi I think (like a small tanto), and the point is the same as my CRKT, not really sharp, but convex profiled, with just enough of an "edge" on it that it will scrape shavings off of my thumbnail, but won't actually bite or cut into the fingernail.

I ordered one and the tip was so dull and thick-edged that it was useless (to me). I could not cut tape or cardboard with it at all. The 'edge' on the tip was rounded and not even beveled (It was pointed but had NO cutting edge at all).

A friend who went to the SHOT show said that the protos there had beveled and sharpened tips with cutting edges, but apparently the production version is quite different.

Bought mine at the nyc knife show.- a shout out to all the forumites, that I have met there
I liked the design and the overall quality, but don´t really know what to use it for.

Thanks for the replies. It appears that my tip is damaged. I did not want to bother sending it back and waiting for another. I spent some time on my DMT stone and put a tip on it. The point is much too thick, there is really no need for it to be this thick. CRKT could have thined it out a little bit and still kept the heft factor. Overall I like the knife, I like the idea of having a knife that I can severly abuse the tip and not worry about damaging it. Thanks again for the replies.
