Imported slippie model question.

Buck is really the only company I buy imported slipjoint knives from. Even though it says China on the blade, it is, after all, still a Buck. I also love the different handle materials from the imported line, and the fact that they seem to be made better then the US ones, at least the ones I've handled for myself, (and I've handled many) for a lower price.
Be that as it may, I understand that Buck is bringing their slippie line back to the US, which of course is good news. However, I was wondering, will they continue to make them in the various handle materials? Will the 303, for example, still be available in the imported wood grain as well as the US saw cut delrin and the newer, darker wood grain? Will all the imported models come over as well, like the Canoe, toothpick, Solo, etc.? And lastly, will the price remain the same for these?

Voltron,

I do here that they are coming back and pricing should stay consistent to
current prices. Since the wood handles are just different color Dymondwood, I would believe it will be available. They are certainly Bucks and I agree with you how tight/solid they are, the only possible down side I have seen on any conversations about them here on the Forum is that the steel is most likely non USA provided and would not have the exact heat treating Buck/Bos performs(which is a definite concern). Mine have performed admirably so far.

Some one else can add to this or correct me if my statements seem astray.

I can only imagine that Buck being Buck, they has a long talk with the reps of the chinese firm doing the work, and while they are using thier own steel, they must by contract agreement use an equivelent of what Buck would use, with heat treating in the RC range of what Buck says its to be.

Buck is probably the only knife company I would not worry too much about the asian made knives. They have to made to a standard.

As to model line, it would be very neat if Buck contiued with the other slippies like the canoe and other traditional patterns.

For the foreseeable future, Buck will continue to bring in certain models of the slip joint knives from China while at teh same time expanding the domestic.

Good deal, thanx Bill. That's great to hear. I'm not really hung up on where a knife is made, as it seems EVERYTHING we own is made elsewhere. A good knife is a good knife regardless of where it is made. However, the name BUCK to me has stars and stripes on it, you know? LOL. Great news.

Here's my guess, it would have a blue anvil scale plate.....the blade will be without question a BOS 420HC....

Mr. Keys will have give you the real answer...300
