Impossible to remove clip from We 707D

I have a We 707D. I've disassembled it to remove the pocket clip (because I always remove my pocket clips, since they create hot spots in my palm), but the pocket clip appears to be permanently attached to the lock side of the knife! (Normally you wouldn't need to disassemble a knife to remove the clip, but I thought there may be a blind screw from the internal side.)

Talking with We customer support has been...trying. I could cut the clip off with my Dremel, but the knife would never look the same. Anyone have any ideas?

Isn't that the clip screw? Seems straight forward to me, no way they will have machined the lockside and clip out of a single piece.

The star bit on the outside of the pocket clip is the pocket clip retaining screw. Loosen it with the bit that came with the knife and take it off.

I assumed he had done that and it was stuck, but re-reading the post he disassembled it.

And if @gpknives will exchange a knife that has been disassembled.

Good point. If you bought it from GP knives and explain that you were trying to take off the clip and didn't see that you can't remove it.

The other knife sites don't state that it is permanent. Odd.

To the OP, maybe email/call where you bought it from if We isn't cooperating.

It's not, I'm willing to bet money on it. The statement merely means you can't switch it to a different mounting location. Same as say the WE Zeta, you can remove the clip but aside from serious modifications, there is no other mounting point than right hand Tip Up.

Sorry I lost track of this thread. Yes, the screw shown in the picture posted by b00n is the correct screw. I removed it, but the clip did not come off; it felt like it was welded in place. I contacted We, and they put me in contact with their U.S. guy, whom I called and discussed the situation with. Turns out that the clip was still wedged in to the body quite tightly, so I had to gently pry it loose. Took a minute or two of prying, and then the clip came loose. That clip really didn't need the star screw to retain it.

Good to hear.
