I finally had to sharpen my large 21 and I can say I'm impressed. Used the old fashioned arkansas stones and the S30V seemed no more difficult to sharpene than other steels. The longer I own this knife, the more I like it!!

I find the lockup on the particular large 21 I handled to be what I would consider perfect. The bar almost covers the entire thickness of the blade. The action is smooth but firm (it's not a flicker.)

This one so far has the best lockup as far as fit and finish of all the frame locks (integral locks) I have handled. Despite it's firm secure lockup, the Sebenza's lockbar does not stick (at least on the one I handled) at all when disengaging.

I have handled only two others, the Benchmade (BM) Skirmish firm lock bar does stick and the ZT0302 (ZT,) an assisted opener, does not stick but lock bar is not as firm as Sebenza the ZT does have a hinderer type of mechanism to prevent overextend the lockbar, both the BM and ZT are large and heavy.

Although they do come close to the fit and finish of the 21 I have handled (very close) The Sebenza wins regardless.

Note the Sebenza does have that sleeve that goes into the pivot hole on the blade so that also makes for a better, smoother, longer lasting folder.

yes, it is a good steel.

I use the large Spydie ceramics Fine/Ultrafine with
good results touching up the CRK S30V.

I will agree with you on everything you've said, but you lost me on the "sleeve".

I've had many Sebes, and I don't think you will ever have to worry about the lack of a Hinderer lock bar stop. In fact, I don't remember anyone ever to mention having over-extended the lock bar when closing.

I think he was referring to blade pivot and the fact that it doesn't need to be adjusted in order to find the right balance of tension/ease of opening.
