Impressed with Carbon Fiber Dragonfly

I recently came into possession of a carbon fiber handled Dragonfly, plain edge, with many thanks to our own Marion David Poff (a great fella to deal with, thanks, MD!). I must say that I am quite impressed with the quality and solid feel of a rather small knife. Admittedly, I bought it as an alternate "airline" knife rather than constantly risking my small Sebenza (tired of "playing the odds") and I'm quite glad I did! I've handled the zytel handled versions several times at gun and knife shows, but was unprepared for how nice the carbon rendition would be. If anyone is interested in a knife the size of a Dragonfly, I highly recommend tracking down one of these jewels, you won't regret it. Great job, Spyderco!

On the downside, my wife is now trying to con me into swapping the carbon Dragonfly for her micarta Calypso Jr., because the Dragonfly is "cuter", the size more suitable to her purse and uses, and she thinks the carbon fiber is cool. Her generous concession is to swap back whenever I have to travel by air. I told her I'll have to think about it. Does Spyderco Customer Service offer arbitration services for spouses for situations such as this?

yeah, i bought a few of the CF Dragonflys thru the BFC blow-out sale and gave them to friends...

at first, I wasn't a big fan of them, as the knife is a little too small for my hands, but it makes a handy little alternate knife for when I don't feel like lugging my endura somewhere. i think it's a pretty classy knife.

too bad they are being discontinued along with all the other CF knives... at least, that's what I'd heard awhile ago.

i also like the pretty silver clip

I like this knife a lot too.
I have had the s/s version for quite awhile and jumped on the BF deal awhile ago.
The carbon fiber model is really dressy and is the only "clipit" where I left the clip attached

I think I signed onto BF after this deal...(sounds of whining and teeth gnashing).

I have/had a FRN (zytel?) version that I loved as my expendable knife, and was really taken with the way it handled.

Unfortunately, my daughters agreed with me and I gave it to one of them... now waiting to get the Calypso Jr lightweight as a replacement (seems like a bigger brother to the Dragonfly).

Hey Don -- These are great knives. I have one and I gave one to my Dad (I am sure it sits on his dresser most of the time). I head to CA later this week and I think it will accompany me on the flight.

There was originally talk of a micarta version. Don't know what ever happened to that idea....
