It's not news to you guys, but BM's really made notable improvements with the BM42 (latchgate, pivot pins, etc.).

I picked up two BM42's (one to play with, one for the collection), and have been really impressed with the wear resistance of the ti handles. I figured they'd be a touch softer than the cast stainless deals, but not so. I figured the tang pin would create some serious dents in the tang pin indentions of the handles, but not so. I've been using and abusing the snot out of this knife and it still locks tight and shows very little damage. Just some tiny nicks on the latch.

I couldn't be happier with the updates, and I really want a pre-pro colour-anodized version to round off my collection. One day I'll post some pics; you guys have probably got some of these (all NIB):

Haven't seen you post in a while. Any chance that the 42 will replace the 705?

Not likely. I've a love for the 705 that may be eternal. I used to carry a BM30 as my primary LPU (Life Preservation Unit) in a homemade horizontal-carry leather sheath. The apprehension I had that made me switch to more pocketable, conventional-styled folders like the 705 is their non-knife-people-friendliness. Crying shame too, since IMHO Bali's are the absolute best compromise between fixed and folding knives. Fun to manipulate too!

I will always, however, have room in my heart for a well-made Bali!
