I have a Case XX hunting knife that has served me well for over 15 years. Good knife, keeps an edge well, I even had to regrind it once after I broke the tip off.
It resides in my truck bag.
On another forum, I saw a post describing the ESEE H.E.S.T.
Something about that knife. The image stuck in my head for a week.
So, I came here looking for info on it. Wow, did I find info. The ESEE guys and Robert Pelton posting in the forums. Plenty of pictures and reviews.

So, I am retiring the Case after many years of loyal service. The H.E.S.T. provides what seems to be a handier blade profile for the knife I want in my truck bag, not to mention the several other uses built into the knife. I am now waiting patiently on my order to show up.

I am very impressed with the company's owners, the warranty they provide, and the user base that surround their products. It is a rare thing to see such a practical and honest company (and users) these days. If I am half as impressed with the product as I am with the people behind and around the product, I see a long friendship between me and ESEE knives.

I do not collect knives. I live on the river, surrounded by woods on the MS Gulf Coast; all my knives get used. That being said, I already have my eye on a RC-6 and will likely get a Junglas after they come out (and I get the money saved for it). I see no reason to look at any other company for my bladed tools. An honest product at an honest price is appealing to me.

Well, that is my first post. I like these ESEE boards, and plan to stick around if ya'll will have me.
And never fear, I will update this post with pics as soon as the knife gets here.
Happy Easter everybody.

Thanks for the post. Customer interaction and shootin' straight with folks is what we do best. Look for more in the future between the ESEE Knives and the DPX (Pelton) collaboration. We're just getting started when it coems to DPX ;)

Welcome iacchus!

Welcome to the forum. You will like the HEST, got mine a few days ago and can't wait to put it to some good use. Was thinking of pairing it with the 6 for woods use. IMO that should have the bases covered.

You hit the nail on the head. This is also what drew me to ESEE and these boards. Congratulations on your decision and welcome!

Damn u dutch customs! still waiting for my hest :(.

But its great to see you made a choice of a ESEE knife even if you are not a knife-collector!

Welcome! I have seen friends with rat/esee knives plenty in the past, I always chucked their gear and carry to paranoia, until an incident that made me have to turn around and take a good look at what I do everyday, what I have, and what I buy. Quality is what you get with Esee knives, you won't be disappointed! I haven't been, and the Hest is on my list of to gets besides the 5 and 6, the Junglas, and a few other items from Esee :)

Again, welcome!

Welcome. Great first post! We all couldn't agree more about Jeff, Mike and all the other great folks over at ESEE. The best in the game. Mr. Pelton sure knows his stuff too!

Get your wallets ready folks!

Jeff/Mike....perhaps you can offer a signature series of your ESEE knives i.e. engraved with your autographs, that will be cool for collectors like us. I know ESEE knives are built to be used but I am sure there are quite a few ESEE fans that collects them.
If I may....here are a few of my wish list:
1. As I mentioned - autographed series of ESEE knives
2. Other materials other than 1095
3. Orange G10 slabs for Izula
4. Still waiting for ESEE packs

More power to both you and MIke and the rest of your crew!

I have seen the threads suggesting that ESEE knives are a plague. Maybe there is something to that, or maybe it is just that after seeing the build quality of one of these knives, it makes it that much easier to see yourself buying another.

I received my HEST. A damn fine knife. Such a handy tool, I cannot put it on my truck bag as I intended. I feel the need to carry it on my person. That will make it much more likely for it to get used on a daily basis, and this knife just begs to be used and used often.

So, I still needed a pack knife. I browsed the ESEE site, and decided the knife I needed was an ESEE pack kit with a 6P. So, I ordered one of those.

While browsing the site, I also kept going back to a specific page and ogling another knife. After I ordered the 6 pack, I went and pre-ordered a Junglas.

Now, the 6 I can justify. It is a closer replacement for the Case XX hunting knife the HEST was supposed to replace, and the pack/firestarter/knife sharpner will work well as an addition to my truck bag.

The Junglas, well I have a harder time justifying that one. I have no need for that knife. I am sure the 6 will be more than enough to handle the tasks I come across. A 20" machete would suit any larger purposes much better than the comparatively heaver 10" junglas (especially in the swamp I live in). I don't really know any application that the Junglas would be best for (at least for me).

The Junglas purchase was not based out of need. That purchase was made strictly on the basis of the Junglas being supremely awesome.

The justification my wife will get after she sees it show up will most likely be the same as it was after I picked up my last battle rifle: Zombie uprising!

That will actually be an easier sell than the truth. I am a man, and men have strange affections for large, heavy, sharp, pointy tools.

Yeah, Zombie uprising! seems like a winner.

ESEE knives a plague? Maybe not, but my wallet is hurting and losing weight. Maybe it should see a doctor.
