Impression of CQB2

While I haven't been cutting anything with it, my new CQB2 has been getting quite a bit of carry time in the past two weeks since I received it from Roger at Bayou Lafourche. The knife and sheath are both absolutely top notch. Fit and finish on both are equal to or even better than some of my favorite handmade blades. The scales just sort of melt into the full tang with no gaps or overhang of any sort. The ATS-34 blade arrived razor sharp (as I maintain that ALL premium blades should, but don't!), and a few compulsive passes on a strop, though not needed, made it positively scary. The sheath system allows just about any carry one could desire, and gives a secure but easily available carry. For my frame, this size(8" oal in sheath) is about ideal for vertical belt carry, but I'm getting the feeling that I must now get a CQB due to my experience with the CQB2. It should do fine in a horizontal or diagonal position, even though a little long for vertical carry in town (under a vest, usually). Will, you guys have really done your homework and it shows in this great blade. I can't wait to see what is coming in the future!

I really wanted to keep mine but, the handle was about a half inch too short so it had to go! The blade length and style were perfect but, when I pay good money for something I don't compromise. I hope you are able to enjoy yours for years to come.

And a bit tapered too much. Either in saber or reverse, one gets the impending feeling that the entire blade will free itself from agressive swinging movements. Otherwise, I would have one already.

I feel that everything in a knife's design can be a tradeoff. The trim handle, while perhaps small for some hands, is perfect for concealment, which is my priority. How is the grip on the CQB1?

My only wish was that Camillus would have kept their original blade spec. of 5/32" stock and not changed it to 1/8" stock.

If I'm using 1/8" I may as well carry a folder...

If you make a fixed blade version of the CUDA (in the tanto blade), let me know.

Alachoctaw,
I have the CQB1 and the handle is quite a bit bigger than on the CQB2. I got to handle both knives a the store befoer I bought them and the CQB2 handle was way too small for my hands. I do believe the finger groove is a bit deeper in the CQB2. Otherwise the handle was the same but bigger and fits my hands great in all grips (that I use anyway) and had enough handle to change grips a bit.
For me, it fills my hand nicely.
