Improved Bowie

I don't know john, I'm not a marketing guy but a business owner once told me she liked having another similar business across the street because it increased the foot traffic of people coming near her that were interested in what she sold.

in other words, it might not be a bad thing?

I sound the don't do it bell over the improved bowie every time though andn as you can see I'm slow in getting around to ordering all the ones I like so it may just be selfishness on my hand :)
 
I also saw where another maker on BF is making a dead ringer for the Lobo.
 
The Improved Bowie (my version of the Herters Improved Bowie) is being dropped from my line next month. I just got the new issue of TK, and saw another maker is now making one.

That attached picture and description of a 5" 'Improved Bowie', to me, is just a rendition of an ordinary wood-handled kitchen knife from the 1930s. Anyway I'm glad not to be a tradesman dictated by the whims of fashion. One of my hunting buddies (who died 5 years ago at age 80) carried a simple belt knife that his (so he told me) Montana blacksmith/rancher dad had made from an old file, put elk antler scales on and had given to him on his 13th birthday. It was carefully made and crudely finished and a bit more brittle-tempered than it should have been but boy was it ever a beaut to work with. And Old Dave sure knew how to keep his stuff razor sharp! That I think was the secret of the whole business of owning, caring for and using a knife. I don't know where that knife wound up after the funeral but I sure hope it isn't languishing in a drawer somewhere.
