there are definitly some things i would like to see for '02 -

more knives in the 4" to 5.5" range, make them bigger/longer, like the buck/strider w/a 5" blade, a larger BM AFCK, too many knives seem to stop at 4", give us more choices in the 4-5" range

cut out zytel, it looks so cheap imho compared to G10, and the price cant be that much, would gladly pay $5 for G10 vs zytel anyday on any new knife

spyderco to put ti liners in the millie, starmate, wegner, etc , my BM800 LOOKS so much stronger, i dont know if it REALLY is, but it looks stronger imho

CRKT to go to at least AUS8 on every knife they make (and no more zytel too)

i guess thats it for me, and hope all have a happy '02!!

The major difference is that zytel is molded and G-10 is machined. If you make a zytel handle you have a) a huge initial cost to make the molds, and b) a small per knife cost to pour the handles. For G-10 you have: a) a medium to large cost to make the initial tooling and program the CNC machines. B) a large per knife cost for machine time. C) a per knife cost to replace the tooling (most tools in a CNC mill have a tool life, measured in parts, after which they must be replaced) I've never worked anywhere where they machined g-10, but for Aluminum, the tool lives ranged from 100 to a few thousand parts depending on what the tool did and how large of a surface it did it over. There was one part on which we broke about 3 end mills a day on each machine because they failed to do A) make a new set of tooling for the part. It's hard to cut corners with CNC machining.

Oh, let's see... Maybe Benchmade could add a 3" Bali-Song to their line. Something like this:

Oh, and that's the Microtech Tachyon with it.
