I am curious about some of the improvements we have seen and will be seeing from Emerson knives in the near future. I own 8 production Emersons, with my most recent additions being two mini commanders (2002 green g-10 SF plain edge and 2002 black g-10 SF plain edge) as well as a full size commander (2000 black g-10 SF plain edge). The mini has been improved from the original commander with the addition of a larger stop pin, longer back spacer, an upgrade in back spacer material from plastic to g-10, and the handle serrations on top of the knife as well as the bottom of the handle are now wider and cut into the g-10 as well. I love all of these improvemnets as I feel they make for a better knife.
The first Emerson I bought after my Raven that had these improvements was a 2001 Mach 1. Between that knife and the three I mentioned above, I also bought a 2001 Blackbird and a 2001 Mini CQC 7B. These knives did not have all of the upgrades. The blackbird
got some of the upgrades (improved handle serrations) but didn't get the rest (larger stoppin and longer spacer). I really love this knife, but I know it would benefit from these two missing improvements. The larger stop pin could only improve lockup, and the longer spacer would decrease the minimal handle flex. The Mini CQC 7 also did not receive the improved handle serrations (it was not lacking the larger pin and long spacer). My question is, does anyone know if there are plans to add these minor improvemnts to all Emerson folders accross the board eventually. I know the 2002 full size commanders will see all of the improvements, just wondering about the rest of the line still missing them. Just wondered if anyone else noticed these differences and had any info they could pass along. Thanks.
