Hi, All:

I was in the field playinng arond with my 18" AK, and i noted that it seems secure in the sheath, due to the bend in the knife and sheath. If I ran with it strapped to me, tho, it would pump up and down in the scabbard, which may not be safe or secure.

Heres'what I did:
I took the hair tie (those kind that are like rubber bands with cloth around them) out of my hair, looped it thru itself and the little leather loop at the top of the belt looop on the frog, and gave it a double twist around the raised ring on the khuk handle. Not only is this a cheap fix, but it is so secure! I tried to shake the khuk out of the scabbard, but the rubbery hair tie provided enough resistance, and it tightens as the khuk tries to escape. this holds the khuk securely in the sheath even when running, jumping, falling, rolling etc.

Just wanted you all to know I finally found a use for that curous small loop of thong on the belt loop part of the frog.

You're better equipped for the wild than I am Keith, the only thing I could pull out of my hair is dandruff or deer ticks. Reckon I could use a piece of latigo lace to "peace tie" it in it's scabbard. Nope, might need to get it out quick if some big guy with an 18" AK comes running through the woods towards me. ;)

Great Idea, Keith. I've yet to find a use for the hanging loop on the frog; I usually just lay my khuks on a convenient flat surface when they are not in use. I'll steal one of my wife's hair thingies when I get home tonight and give it a try.

Just make sure the khuk is not within her reach...;)

Heehee! Yeah, since I started growing my hair long (first time ever!) I have some hair ties on me at all times. The cool thing about them over cloth or leather peace bonds is that they are quick and easy to slide off for fast draw. As you know, when stuff is secured for travel, it often requires a few secs to unlimber the tool and get it ready to chop/fire.

I cured my problem by gluing leather shims from an old glove,Cut into 1" squares fold it over and glued at the mouth of the scbbared.Worked great!:D
