Got this in the mail today, can't even begin to describe how this knife feels, no wonder Haze is so in love with these things. Unfortunatly, the PO all but destroyed the box, luckily it was an Emerson inside! :D:thumbup:

If you bought the larger Persian then this was a smokin' deal.

If it was the Mini-Persian, not so much. I just bought the Mini-Persian. Got my from Amazon.com for $98 bucks, w. free shipping, which is everyday pricing for them. So I can't give kudos for the deal, but I give big kudos for the knife. Cool factor is off the charts.

The opening action is way tight on my mini-persian. Is yours this way as well?

I don't think there is an Emerson mini-Persian. I have always thought there is just the standard Persian and that's it. Do you have pics of the mini-Persians you purchased?

The Persian has not been produced by Emerson in a while and they are very difficult to find right now. $130 is a great price given the fact that they are tough to find.

I'm pretty sure there is no "mini" Persian as mentioned above. I have sent messages to Mr. Emerson on facebook a few times about the possibility of making a mini Persian in the future.

I think I am confusing the Spyderco line with Emerson. I was referring to the Spyderco Mini-Persian, which is being discontinued next year. The larger-sized version was discontinued awhile back.

Based on the length of 5 3/8", this would definitely be the larger size Persian, if it is a Spyderco.

Are we talking about Emerson or Spyderco on this blade?

This is the Emerson forum.;)

Congrats on the buy. I'm always glad to see someone else buying what others consider 'too many knives', makes me feel normal. Lets see some pics!

That is a pretty good deal for a NIB Persian :)

I think you're going to like that one, I have developed a bit of a problem with EKI Persians as you know :D

should the persian be deemed a keeper, who should/could i look to for a framelock conversion? I know STR could do it best, but I've been told he's not taking orders as of present.:grumpy:

Try Reese Weiland. He does most of my customizing. http://www.reeseweilandknives.com/rw_knives_home.htm

He's not only a great knifemaker but I consider him a friend and mentor although I've never met him. Went over my minutes a few months from extended calls to him ;)

You got a Sig in the mail? Wow. I need to order one of those by mail.:D

Is your blade centered in the handle when closed? I have one I love, but the blade just won't quite center. I don't want to send it in because I love it otherwise.

The weird thing about the Persian is that it's the perfect culinary knife. There is no better knife for eating. If you have a thick tough steak and potatoes on a plate, the Persian is the perfect knife to demolish the whole thing. It's perfect for eating a T-bone and carving the meat away from the bone - not to mention that it's just great for cutting any kind of meat on a plate. It's hard to imagine that this knife was made for anything other than eating steak at a backyard or campfire BBQ.

My Persion is my EATING knife! (Perfect for when you're out camping and grilling!)

.

HA! I wish, haven't been able to mail order a handgun that easy since '68. It was the only pic I took that would upload. My persian's blade is tap-dead. I had a 7 with a blade that wouldn't center, took it apart and back together with a good even torque on all the screws, and it helped.
