Impulse Buys?

I enjoy impulse buys. Those include knives, flash lights, stuff I regularly use or may use on sale, hiking stuff, fishing stuff and so forth. I like gadgets in general and sometimes seeing something triggers my urge to pick it up.

What do you buy when you are wandering around in a big box store, home center, or any favorite stores that you might just wander around?

In the past when I found a gun I wanted while filling out the paperwork I’d look around for something else to add.

Tools. Went to get some dog food and on the checkout counter was a display of mini Fat Max 6ft measuring tapes. Bought three just in case my three full size Fat Max tapes fail to work?

I was in Home Depot to pick up an order that was shipped to the store. Got the item and wandered around a bit; then I picked up a two pack of Coast head lamps (400 lumens) on impulse that are on sale for the Christmas season (~$15). They're good enough for most things I use a headlamp for.

Haven't opened the packaging yet.... you can see I really need them. ;)

I just bought six of those on clearance at tractor supply. Great little pocket tape measure.

I have a little 6 ft tape (Stanley Fatmax) as well that has a key ring on it.... I keep it in my pickup as there are times that when I'm shopping for something where size is important, I can do a quick check with the tape measure. It was an impulse buy a while back.

Tools for sure.
Last week I bought a Vaughan mallet at HD, and a WILDE made " Hyper tough " 26" mechanics pry bar from Walmart for $10.
I saw them there at the beginning of the year and after alerting they guys over at the GG I've heard great things but just hadn't bought one yet for some reason.

The week before that I bought two 5pc sets of the good Ol' WF Craftsman screwdrivers the new big ACE had on sale.
I've got enough of them, so I'll be giving these to my brother for Christmas.
There are some other US made tools I've bought on impulse recently but can't remember what.
Can't beat 10 drivers for $10, and I can't stand to even look at the Chinese made offerings exclusive to Ace or Taiwanese versions from Lowe's.
I really cannot leave behind any US made Craftsman tools, I often pick something up from the local hardware and plan to have every US made Craftsman tool theyvt got left that I actually have a use for or can gift.

I was in Dicks sporting goods one before they started acting like a dick, buying 22 ammo and ended up buying a H&R handi-rifle. It was clearanced and a couple years after they quit making them . It sat around here for a couple years and I ended up selling it for a $100 profit.

I always end up grabbing a few clamps whenever I'm at the big orange store. I have enough of them in all sizes but who can't use another clamp or two.

I'm drawn to those screw drivers with the multiple driver inserts every single time I visit a home center...... I have a couple already. I resist, but..... resistance is futile!

It took me forever to get my family and friends to realize I am not a tool-aholic. Just because I am a tradesmen they assumea I was into everything thing tools other than a set of tools for working on bicycles and a set for guns/reels/sewing machines, tools are something I have to have for making a living.
I get screwdrivers lights and even multi tools given to me by vendors often.

plumberroy plumberroy I am a tool-aholic. Nobody ever buys me tools or knives or guns. I think they think I have everything already. (I don’t).

Honestly I tell them not to buy me anything. I have all I need. I’d rather have something they collect and know a lot about. Then have them try to add to my collection.

22-rimfire 22-rimfire Those 4 and 6 way drivers get stashed everywhere. I must have dozens. They make great stocking stuffers too.

I rarely go to any big box stores, just the local hardware store occasionally.
But what keeps me broke is Amazon.
I bet I get 5-6 packages a week with that logo on them.
I browse around that site way too much.

My impulse buys are much more frequent around this time of year. The Olight Black Friday / Christmas sales have nailed me a couple times. Saw a Pena Lanny’s Clip on sale for about $50 less than I’ve seen anywhere else...had to buy that. I smoke a pipe about once per year...saw the AGR pipe knife in an ad...had to buy that...I always disgust myself this time of year.

My impulse buy was I couldn't get a new watch band for my wife's watch, so I got her a nice new watch. Nothing crazy, but a nice Citizen Eco Drive.

For myself, I have to research it to the point of being obsessive.

And let me tell you, it ain't easy being an obsessive compulsive perfectionist who is also very lazy. :D

I like to put things in my cart each time you log on it tells you if prices have changed. Sometimes prices will drop for a very short time then shoot back up.
